Ilocos Norte: Karingking Falls, Solsona

Solsona is a town in Ilocos Norte that is located in the eastern part of the province. It is not that famous for tourists because it is not yet well developed in terms of destinations. But there is a lot to be discovered in this town. For mountaineers, this is one spectacular place to trek in. My friends and I decided to have a camp and trek in this town and it was so amazing.

Places to go in Solsona:

The Lagoon is a more or less one hour hike from the Karingking campsite. That one hour hike includes rock climbing and such, but once you get to the place, all your tiredness will go away. The place is truly magical. You can enjoy the fresh cold water from the brook and you can climb the rocks there then jump. That’s what my friends and I did. We really enjoyed swimming there for like two hours.

Don’t worry because there are local guides and they will provide vests and ropes for you.

The Karingking Falls is the second place we went to. It is a two hour hike from the lagoon. I must say that the hike is not that easy as you think because the mountain you’re going to climb is really steep. And when we hiked there, it rained so hard so the trail is all muddy and slippery.

The struggles are all worth it when we saw the three leveled falls. Few sees this nature wonder because of its location.

Fees to pay: (per head)
-100 pesos for the environmental fee and campsite fee
-100 pesos for the guide going to the lagoon
-75 pesos for the guide going to the falls

Ilocos Norte never fails to surprise me with its nature wonders.

Thank you for reading and I hope you’ll visit the place soon. Just remember, leave only footprints and take only pictures and memories. God bless you! 💕
